Past Projects

SIDT is proud to have served our community since 1978. We have helped many organizations launch new programs by providing start up funds. Some programs have grown from a small project into an ongoing, much larger organization. Tu Nidito, started off as Candle Lighters with a grant from Soroptimist many years ago (Tu Nidito).

In 2012 we partnered with the Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona to fund programs for girls who are homeless, in non permanent foster care or have female family members incarcerated (Girl Scouts Beyond Bars). Our funds provided the most vulnerable girls the opportunity to participate in a rich variety of Girl Scout activities that help them cultivate positive values, social conscience, self-esteem, respect for others and life skills. These programs help girls construct a foundation for healthy and productive futures.

In 2011, we partnered the Haven to establish a primary care clinic for their residents. Women struggling with addiction can now receive basic medical care and prescriptions, free of charge, on site, thanks to the help of Soroptimist. Through our volunteer efforts we re-modeled the clinic area, creating a safe, clean and inviting environment for healing. By providing the start-up capitol needed, the medical staff was able to prove to their donors this program would be success. This clinic continues to operate and help women on the road to recovery.
